The quickest way to get information about a layer's metadata—where the data came from, etc.—is to click on its title in the 'Places' panel on the left side of the Google Earth interface.
For more information on how to view a layer and utilize its external links, consult each layer's Detailed Instructions on
the home page. |
| Transparency | ||
Google Earth lets you control the transparency of the layers (e.g. wall maps and leasese) in your viewer. In the table of contents on the left, highlight the layer and adjust the transparency slider as desired. |

If you foresee referring to these layers on an ongoing basis, you can save them to your 'My Places' section so
they will be available every time you fire up Google Earth. By default new overlays are added to the 'Temporary Places' section. To move an overlayer to 'My Places' click on its name under the 'Temporary Places' section. While continuing to hold the left mouse button down, drag the overlay to the 'My Places' Section. When your mouse cursor is in the 'My Places' section let go of the mouse button to drop the overlay. The overlay will now show up in 'My Places' every time you use Google Earth. |
